Marg, Caroline Jane (Marriage - 18 May 1963)

Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church in Granton was the scene Saturday of the wedding of Miss Caroline Jane Marg, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Ed Marg of Rt. 2, Neillsville, to Roger J. Helm, son of Mr. and Mrs. Henry Helm of Rt. 2 Granton.

The Rev. Alfred Wolkenhauer of Burnett, an uncle of the groom, performed the nuptial ceremony before an altar adorned with a large basket of white gladioli.  Large baskets of ferns were used in the front of the church and the pews were decorated with white organdy bows and lily of the valley.

The bride, given in marriage by her father, was attired in a chapel length gown of embroidered nylon over bridal bouquet taffeta, the full bouffant skirt of which was styled with a panel of embroidery down the front.  The back of the skirt was fashioned with a large, flat nylon bow from which the embroidery was extended down to the chapel train.  A fitted Basque bodice was accented with a scooped neckline and long, tapered sleeves that came to a point at the wrists. The embroidered bodice was etched with seed pearls.  Her head piece was an organza petal cloche, with an American Beauty rose center, and pearl trim which held her bouffant veiling of pure silk illusion.  She carried a bridal bouquet of white cymbidiums and hyacinths attached to a white lace heart.

Miss JoAnn Nemitz of Eau Claire attended her friend as maid of honor. Bridesmaids were Sharon Schwanebeck of Pittsville and Marion Wolkenhauer of Burnett, cousin of the groom.

The attendants wore satapeau length dresses in white. Their scoop neckline and elbow length sleeves accented fitted bodices. Dome skirts wee styled with unpressed pleats and a bow at the waist.  They wore crown headpieces of red braid petals, trimmed with pearls; and they carried spring bouquets consisting of red tulips and green tulip leaves.

Kenneth Deibert of Burnett was his cousin’s bestman. Groomsmen were Raymond Wetzel of Neillsville and Robert Tichy of Greenwood.  Ushers were Donald Helm and Robert Nemitz.

A reception for 300 guests was held in the church parlors immediately following the ceremony and another reception was held from 7 to 9 p.m. for neighbors, friends and relatives at the Marg home north of Neillsville.

The bride is a 1961 graduate of Neillsville High School and has been employed in a Neillsville bank.  Mr. helm was graduated in 1955 from Granton High School and is engaged in farming.

On their return from a short wedding trip Mr. and Mrs. Helm will reside on his farm on Rt. 2, Granton.
