Strassman, Ervin (2 DEC 1886 - 23 APR 1958)

 

Ervin Strassman, a former Thorp (Clark Co., Wis.) resident, who lived in the Town of Sumner, Canton, RFD, passed away of a heart attack at the Rice Lake Hospital after a brief illness, on Wednesday evening, April 23, 1958.

 

Born in Kiel, Wis., Dec. 2, 1886, he came to Thorp with his parents, the late Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Strassman, in 1887.  He was brought up here, attended the local school, and worked in the logging camps and in the village as a blacksmith.  He was united in marriage to the former Aurelia Welzein forty-seven years ago - 1911.

 

Mr. Strassman went to Eau Claire with his family in 1924, where he was employed at the Sterling Pulp and Paper Co., as a millwright until his retirement three years ago, when he moved to the Town of Sumner, Barron Co.

 

He is survived by his wife; six daughters, Mrs. Irene Nelson, Milwaukee; Mrs. Esther Barr, Cameron; Mrs. Bernice Raudabaugh, East Grand Forks, Minn.; Mrs. Reta Heuer, Mrs. Dorothy Rask, Mrs. June Solberg, all of Canton, Wis.; two sons, Robert, Eau Claire and Walter, Canton; a sister, Mrs. Clyde Thomas, St. Croix Falls; and 13 grandchildren.

 

He was a member of Our Redeemer Lutheran Church of Eau Claire.

 

Funeral services were conducted by Rev. E.R. Becker at St. John’s Lutheran Church at Cameron, Wis., at 2 o’clock Saturday, April 26th, and interment took place in Pine Grove Cemetery.  Six sons-in-law were pallbearers.
