Orth, Raymond George Sr. (February 20, 1923 - August 6, 2011)

Raymond G. Orth Sr., 88, of Abbotsford passed away Saturday, August 6, 2011 at Pennock Hospital in Hastings, Michigan while visiting family.

Raymond was born February 20, 1923, to George and Anna (Domer) Orth in the Town of Holton, Marathon County.

He attended Rosedale Country School. Raymond served his country in the Army during World War II in the European Theater.

Raymond was united in marriage to Evelyn Gosse on April 10, 1944, at St. Bernard’s Catholic Church in Abbotsford.

Raymond was the chairman of the Town of Holton for many years, he hauled milk and owned and operated a farm in the Town of Holton.

He enjoyed gardening, fishing, playing cards, dancing, and grilling out. Most of all he enjoyed spending time with his family and friends.

Raymond is lovingly survived by his children, Dennis (Sandi) Orth of Abbotsford, Diane (Jerry) Tomandl of Lake Odessa, Mich., Gene (Diane) Orth of Colby, Sharon (Randy Gauger) Welch of Spencer, Marlene (Larry) Blasel of Dorchester, Raymond (Lori) Orth Jr. of Abbotsford, David (Vickie) Orth of Abbotsford, and Mary (Kevin) Weber of Colby. He is further survived by 20 grandchildren; 17 great grandchildren; and two sisters, Marge Kugel of Watertown, and Ermine Singstock of Colby.

Raymond is preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Evelyn; his brother, Myron Orth; and his sister Marie Raschler.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held 11 a.m. Friday, August 12, 2011, at St. Bernard’s Catholic Church in Abbotsford. Father Daniel Hackel will officiate. Visitation will be held from 9 a.m. until service time at St. Bernard’s Catholic Church in Abbotsford. Burial will be at St. Mary’s Cemetery in Colby. Pallbearers will be Scott Orth, Craig Orth, Lee Orth, Brandon Orth, Mark Tomandl, and Taylor Weber.
