Sell, Herman and Helena (01 NOV. 1906- 04 NOV 1956)

 

Sunday, November 4th friends, neighbors and relatives gathered together to help Mr. and Mrs. Herman Sell celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary, all their children and grandchildren and great-grandchildren were present for a family dinner at their home on Loyal, route one except one son –in-law and one grandchild were unable to attend.

 

Mr. and Mrs. Herman Sell were married November 1st, 1906 in the Loyal Lutheran Church by the Rev. Lange. A sister of Mrs. Sell, Mrs. Geo. Kormner was matron of honor at that time and a brother of Mr. Sell was best man, August Sell. Mrs. Koemner now resides in Curtiss and August Sell passed away a few years ago.

 

Mrs. Sell was born Helena Pieper in Dodge County, June 28, 1882 and came to this vicinity shortly before her marriage.

 

Mr. Sell was born July 6th, 1880 in Germany and came to this vicinity with his parents seventy years ago. Mr. Sell has lived in the Town of Beaver on the same farm for seventy years now and Mr. and Mrs. Sell have lived their fifty years of married life there also. Their children have been born and raised on the farm.

 

Born to Mr. and Mrs. Sell were three boys and two girls: Hilbert Sell, Sparta; Mrs. Charles (Selma) Porter, Loyal; Mrs. Thomas (Adele) Edmison; Cataract; and Fred Sell who now operates the home place. One son Gerhardt was killed in service on Oct. 16, 1943.

 

The children presented their mother and dad with fifty silver dollars. Many other gifts were also received.

 

Present for the day and evening event were:- Mr. and Mrs. Harry Quackenbush, Antigo; Mr. and Mrs. Louis Warncke, Colby; Mr. and Mrs. Wolter Degnitz, Curtiss; Mr. and Mrs. Geo. Kormner, Curtiss; Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Edmison, Beloit; Mr. and Mrs. Hilbert Sell, Sparta.

 

Mrs. Thomas Edison and children, Cataract; Mr. and Mrs. Glen Porter & family, Marshfield; Mr. and Mrs. Manly Porter and son, Riplinger; Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Rohloff, Spencer.

 

Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Forhman, Mr. Frank Pieper, Mr. and Mrs. John Olson, Mr. and Mrs. Arnie Pieper, Mr. and Mrs. Alvin Wolf, Mr. and Mrs. Charles Porter and son and Mr. and Mrs. Fred Sell and daughter, all of Loyal.

 

Mr. and Mrs. Herman Sell have seven grandchildren and four great grandchildren. One grandchildren passed away July 11 of this year.
