Grosbier, Virginia (06 OCT 1956)

A wedding of interest to Loyal residents occurred at 10o’clock, October 6 when Miss Virginia Grosbier, daughter of Mrs. Anna Grosbier, Marshfield, was given in marriage by her brother, Robert Grosbier, to Clemens Esselman, son of Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Esselman, Loyal.

The pastor, the Rev. L. H. Timmerman, officiated at the double ring ceremony and Nuptial High Mass at Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church, Marshfield.

Prior to the recessional the bride attended by the groom, placed a bouquet of white pompoms and blue carnations on the altar of the Blessed Virgin while the choir sang, "On This Day, O Beautiful Mother.

A gown designed with a chapel train, a skirt with alternating tiers of nylon tulle and embroidery over satin’ and a fitted bodice with V-shaped neckline accented with tiny pleated folds of nylon tulle, and long sleeves pointed at the wrists was worn by the bride.

Her finger-tip veil of nylon tulle was held by a half-crown of seed pearls and sequins and her floral arrangements of glamelias and streamers  of Stephanotis was secured to a prayer book which had been in the family for over 30 years.

In identical gowns of rosebud taffon made with scoop necklines, short sleeves, cummerbund waistlines and bouffant, floor-length skirts were Mrs. Maurice Gray, Riverside, Illinois, sister of the bride, as maid of honor and Mrs. Mary Ann Bliesener, Loyal, sister of the groom, as bridesmaid. Their matching headbands were dotted with rhinestones and they carried arm bouquets of white mums and pompoms.

Charles Esselman, Chippewa Falls, was his brother’s best man, Mr. Gray was groomsman, and Lawrence and Richard Esselman, Loyal, brothers of the groom, were ushers.

The bride’s mother wore a sheath dress of copen linen with black accessories. The groom’s mother wore a nutmeg ensemble with brown accessories. Their corsages were white pompoms and pink roses.

A wedding luncheon was served at the Robert Grosbier home and a reception from 3 to 5:30 was held in Sacred Heart Hall.

A honeymoon trip was made to the Black Hills and since October 15 they have been at home in Loyal.

Wedding guests came from Loyal, Greenwood, Chippewa Falls, Wisconsin Rapids, West Allis, Neillsville, Milwaukee, Chicago and Minnesota.
