Lichte, Caroline #2 (27 FEB 1824 - 26 SEP 1905)

At 4 o’clock last Tuesday morning, Mrs. Frederick (Caroline from Grant Cemetery listing) awakening and realizing she was far from well, having a feeling of great weakness and being smothered, she called to her son, who arose and at her bidding prepared a hot drink for her.  Then realizing her condition to be serious he hastened to the home of his sister, Mrs. Geo. Howard, and taking her home with him to care for his mother he bade George hasten for a doctor.  Geo. Drove to town here and secured medical aid, but Mrs. Lichte had passed beyond the power of medical aid perhaps an hour before they reached her bedside.  Her death was undoubtedly due to heart trouble.  Mrs. Lichte was 81 ½ years old, being born Feb. 27, 1824, and was married to Ferdinand Lichte 46 years ago.  The mother of 5 children, namely Anna (Mrs. Dick Kern) of San Francisco, Calif., Caroline (Mrs. G. Howard) of the town of Grant, Fredericka (Mrs. Austin Slocomb) of the town of Grant, Fred, a bachelor residing in the town of Lyn, and Adolph, the youngest, a bachelor living at home in the town of Grant, who with her husband Ferd, survive her and mourn her loss.  The funeral will be held from the house this afternoon with interment in the Pleasant Ridge Cemetery (now the Town of Grant Cemetery).  She was a good mother, a loving and loyal wife, and a true friend, one whose loss is sincerely mourned by the home circle.
