Sladek, Mildred (26 SEPT 1956)

 

Mildred Ann Sladek of Rt1 Granton, and Fredrick Ferdinand Grap, Jr., of Neillsville, Rt.3 were married at 2 P.M. Wednesday, September 26, in the Immanuel Lutheran Church at Globe. The Reverand Adolph Schuman officiated. The date chosen was the 25th Wedding Anniversary of the bride’s parents, Mr. and Mrs. Frank Sladek. The groom’s parents are Mr. and Mrs. Fredrick Grap, Sr. A wedding supper was served in the Legion Hall, Neillsville, to approximately 300 guests.

 

The fitted bodice of the bride’s gown was of white imported, hand clipped, rose-point lace over satin, with scattered rhinestone trim. Long sleeves, pointed at the wrists, tiny covered buttons closing the back, and a tiny mandarin collar detailed the bodice. The full, floor length lace skirt was accented with cascades of nylon, tulle and lace ruffles extending in the back, from the waist line to the floor.

 

A Queen Elizabeth crown of beads, pearls, and rhinestones held her finger-tip veil/She carried a double heart shaped bouquet fashioned of white stephanotis centered with an orchid orchid. The handkerchief she carried was made by Mrs. Ferdinand Grap, grandmother of the groom.

 

Miss Carlotta Tichy, R.1, Greenwood was maid of honor for her cousin. Her gown featured a strapless wood-violet lace bodice with lace jacket, with double row of nylon braid and a floor length net skirt over taffeta. Ruffles on the upper front extended to the floor in back. She wore a tiny veil headpiece and carried a heart-shaped bouquet of Sweet Heart roses and vandal orchids. The bridesmaids were Mrs. Clarence Huettenrauch, Milwaukee, sister of the groom; Mrs. Donald Sladek, Marshfield, sister-in-law of the bride; and Miss Joann Grap, Neillsville, sister of the groom. All were dressed in orchid formals. Gowns and flower arrangements were designed similarly to that of the maid of honor.

 

The brother of the groom, Ronald Grap, Rockford, Ill., served at best man, and the groomsmen were Donald Kakow, Neillsville, cousin of the groom; Donald Sladek, Marshfield, brother of the bride; and Jerold Sladek, Marshfield, cousin of the bride. Ushers were Lewis Grap, Neillsville, brother of the groom, and Charles Tichy, La Crosse, cousin of the bride.

 

The new Mrs. Grap is a graduate of the Loyal High School and is employed at the Loyal Tribune. Her hsband obtained his high school education in Neillsville. He served in the army. At present is engaged in farming o his parents, farm.

 

With Mrs. Clarence Wegner as organist, Robert Mitte and Joann Grap sang "Jesus Lead Thou On" and "The Lord’s Prayer."

 

To attend her daughter’s wedding, Mrs. Sladek chose a two piece dress of blue acetate and rayon with white accessories and the groom’a mother chose a navy blue dress. Corsages of yellow and white pompom were worn by  each.

 

Out of town guests were from Rockford, Ill.,Chicago, Ill., Le Clare, Iowa, Milwaukee, Neillsville, Marshfield, Spencer, Granton, Loyal, Greewood, La Crosse, Chippewa Falls and Merrillan.

 

When the newlyweds return from a honeymoon in the eastern states, they will live at R. 3. Neillsville.
