Hales, Mr. and Mrs. Edward T. (Gold - 14 SEP 1948)

The golden wedding anniversary of Mr. and Mrs. Edward T. Halle was happily celebrated by a family gathering at the summer cottage at Springbrook, in Washburn Co., last Sunday.  Present were our two daughters and their husband, Dr. and Mrs. R.E. Jolin of Rice Lake, and Mr. and Mrs. Wm. H. Calvert, and our two grandsons, William H. and Stephen J. Calvert of Benton.  The date of the anniversary was Sept. 14th, 1948, but the gathering was held on Sunday, as all could be present.  We feel it both a pleasure and an honor to add our names to the long list of the good folks of Humbird (Clark Co., Wis.) and vicinity who have celebrated their golden wedding day.

A party of the clipping from an Elroy paper of fifty years ago reads:

"There was a quiet home wedding last evening at 8 o’clock at the residence of the ex-Mayor and Mrs. J. Fox, their younger daughter, Miss Emma, being united in marriage to Mr. E.T. Hale of Valley Junction.  The ceremony was performed by the Rev. Walter M. Ellis, in the presence of a company comprising the relatives and a few close friends of the contracting parties.

The bride looked very charming in a gown of tan colored silk, and the groom was attired in the conventional suit of black.

After the ceremony congratulations of a most hearty and sincere nature were bestowed upon the young couple, and a sumptuous wedding feast partaken of by the company.

Mr. and Mrs. Hale left on the early morning train for a short trip, and upon their return will being housekeeping at Valley Junction"

Since October 1905 our home has been in Humbird, ye Ed coming a few weeks previous.  There have been some rough spots, naturally, but the years we have spent with the good friends of Humbird have been happy ones, and we hope our residence here has added a wee mite of happiness to all with whom we have come in contact.
