Wheaton, Hattie (4 APR 1876 - 25 JAN 1948)

 

Hattie Porath was born in Black River Falls, Wis., April 4, 1876, and passed away Sunday morning, Jan. 25, 1948, in Alma Center, Wis., at the age of 71 years, 9 months, and 21 days.  Her parents were Herman and Minnie Porath of Black River Falls.

 

As a small child she moved with her parents to a farm between Black River Falls and Alma Center.  This was her home until June 12, 1892, when she was married to Frank Wheaton and they began housekeeping on a farm just east of Alma Center.  On March 11, 1894, their only son Ralph was born.  In 1918 they moved from their farm home to Alma Center, and together they enjoyed their retirement from farm life.

 

Mr. Wheaton passed away in 1940 and Ralph, the son, two years later.  From that time Mrs. Wheaton lived alone in her home.  She has been in poor health for some four or five years and spent several months of the past year in the hospital.  As her health continue to fail, she wanted to be cared for by her own people, and spent the last month of her life in the home of her niece, Esther Porath Reineck.

 

Besides her husband and son, she was preceded in death by her brother Gust, who passed away suddenly Nov. 30, 1945, and her only grandson, Warren, in 1940.

 

Mrs. Wheaton leaves to mourn her death, five sisters: a twin, Mrs. Carrie Gower, Butte, N.D., Mrs. Mary Hamilton and Mrs. Julia Hecketsweiler, Springfield, Ore., Mrs. Anna Theiler and Mrs. Edith Zimmerman, Humbird; one brother, Albert Oak…(the rest of my article is missing)
