Young, Henry (22 OCT 1870 - 18 JAN 1947)

News has been received of the death from a heart attack of Henry Jacob Young, a former Humbirdite (Clark Co., Wis.), at Zurich, Mont. on Saturday, Jan. 18th, 1947.  Death came suddenly from the attack, about 10 o’clock, soon after he had retired for the night.

At the time of his death, Mrs. Young was making his home with one of his daughters, Mrs. Rudolph Friede, who lives near Zurich.  He was 76 years of age.

Funeral services were held on Wednesday afternoon, Jan. 22, at a funeral chapel in Zurich, the Rev. Lloyd A. Nelson, pastor of the American Lutheran Church, officiated.  Burial was in the Chinook Cemetery beside the grave of his wife, who died in 1934.

Henry Young was born near Humbird on Oct. 22, 1870, and in the earlier years he was employed in the logging woods.  After his marriage a home was established in this village.  He was employed on the railroad, until some of the western Canadian land was opened for homesteading.  This attracted him to Canadian farming for a number of years.  About thirty-five years ago the family located at Malta, Mont., and later at Harlem.  After Mrs. Young passed away he spent some time with his daughter, Mrs. Holland at Bremerton, Wash.

It has been quite a number of years since Mr. Young visited his old home town.  In his younger days he was an active member of the Modern Woodmen and Maccabees orders in this village.

Surviving are his three daughters: Mrs. Rudolph Friede, and Mrs. Frank Luther of Zurich, and Mrs. Louis Holland of Bremerton, Wash.; two brothers, Leonard and James of Eau Claire; and one sister, Mrs. Rose Stevens of Humbird.  There are also a number of grandchildren, nieces and nephews.  Another sister, Mrs. Myrtle Bradshaw, died last spring in her home in the west.
