Wilkens, Reinhart W. (30 July 1895 - 27 October 1962)

 

Funeral services will be held from the Hoeper-Kraut Funeral Home in Owen at 2 p.m. Friday for Reinhart W. Wilkens, 67, former Owen, Withee and Greenwood resident who died October 27, in a Marshfield hospital.  Mr. Wilkens entered the hospital October 23.

 

The body will lie in state only tonight (Thursday), when brief services will be conducted by the Rev. Daniel Zielske, pastor of Trinity Lutheran Church at Greenwood.  Burial will be made in Riverside Cemetery, Withee.

 

A former livestock buyer, Mr. Wilkens was born July 30, 1895, in Reedsburg.  He was married to the former Mary Schroeder on May 1, 1920, and they moved onto a farm near Detroit, Mich.  After farming for five years, they moved to Owen, where they operated a farm for 26 years, then to Withee, where they farmed for eight more years.  Retiring in 1959, they moved to Greenwood, where they had resided since.  

 

Surviving are his wife; a daughter, Mrs. Roy (Phyllis) Smith of Withee, a son, Kenneth, of Missoula, Mont., his mother, Mrs. Elizabeth Wilkens of Reedsburg; a grandchild; and two sisters, Mrs. Oscar (Esther) Thompson of Madison, and Mrs. Harry (Edna) Page of Reedsburg.
