Fitzmaurice, Edna #2 (21 SEP 1946)

Relatives and friends gathered at the Zion Evangelical and Reformed Church in Neillsville on Saturday, Sept. 21, 1946, to witness the marriage of four of our popular young people.  They were Miss Edna Fitzmaurice, oldest daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Sam Fitzmaurice, and Clifford Walker, son of Mr. and Mrs. Wesley Walker, and Miss Reta Walker, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Wesley Walker, and Jerry Koranda, son of Mrs. Louis Matousek of Neillsville.

They were attended by Miss Frances Matousek of Neillsville and Jake Fitzmaurice of Humbird.

The two couples were joined in the holy bond of matrimony by the Rev. N.J. Dechant, pastor of the church, the double ring ceremony being used in each case.

Beautiful and appropriate organ music was rendered by Mrs. Ray Arndt of Neillsville.

The brides wore grey suits with black accessories and corsages of pink and white roses and baby’s breath.

The groom, Mr. Walker, and attendant, wore dark suits, and Mrs. Koranda was in uniform.  All wore white roses in their lapels.

Both brides are well known here (Humbird, Clark Co., Wis.), as they graduated with the class of 1944.  They also worked together at the Indian Mission School at Neillsville.

The grooms, Mr. Walker and Mr. Koranda, are each well known here.  The former was recently discharged from the army, and is a resident here.  The latter, who was employed in this vicinity several years, is at present with the army to be stationed in California.

After the ceremony the bridal party returned to the Sam Fitzmaurice home, where a wedding dinner was held in their honor.  In the evening both couples joined their many friends in a dancing party at the town hall in this village, the occasion being enjoyed by all.  And also all joined in wishing much happiness to each newly wedded couple.

Mr. and Mrs. Walker have started housekeeping in Mrs. Eva Trader’s home.  Mr. and Mrs. Koranda will probably find a temporary home at his army camp.
