Johnson, Mabel (22 May 1897 - 16 October 1962)

 

Mrs. Elmer Johnson, 65, a lifelong resident of the Greenwood area, died October 16, in St. Joseph’s Hospital, Marshfield, where she had been admitted earlier that afternoon. She had been in poor health for a number of years.

 

The former Mabel Johnson, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Peter Johnson, was born May 22, 1897, at Longwood, and was married July 18, 1917, in Greenwood to Elmer Johnson, who died January 23, 1960.  She was a member of the Auxiliary of the Clark County Letter Carriers and of Our Savior’s Lutheran Church.  Mrs. Johnson taught Sunday school there for many years.

 

She is survived by a daughter, Mrs. Erling (Marie) Ellingson of Elmhurst, Ill.; six grandchildren; two sisters, Mrs. Morris Anderson of Stevens Point and Mrs. Nola Kuehl of Sun Prairie.

 

Funeral services were conducted Saturday afternoon at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church.  The Rev. Arvid Myhrwold officiated.  Burial was made in the Greenwood Cemetery.

 

Pallbearers were: Edwin Hegenbarth, Otto Windom, Roy Thompson, Otto Voie, Lawrence Cox and Clarence Verhulst.

Mohr of Eau Claire; Mr. and Mrs. Martin Quast of Milwaukee; Mrs. Dorothy O’Connor  of Stevens Point; Mr. and Mrs. Grant Herrick of Curtiss, Mrs. George Barker of Abbotsford, and relatives and friends from the Withee, Neillsville and Loyal areas.
