Mary J. Paulsen, nee Troz, age 97, of Thorp, passed away peacefully at the Clark County Health Care Center after a long illness on Sunday, June 12, 2011.  Mary was blessed to have been cared for in her rural Thorp home until recently, and she was a wonderful nurturing woman who spent much of her life caring for others. She was born in Thorp, and she moved to Saint Paul, MN during young adulthood to find work. She married Laurence J. Paulsen of St. Paul on July 3, 1937, and raised two children there until she returned to Thorp in the late 1960’s to help her elderly mother run the family dairy farm.

Mary was preceded in death by her mother, Katherine Troz nee Figura; her father, Daniel Troz; her youngest brother, Peter Troz; her sister Anne Troz Anderson; her husband, Laurence J. Paulsen; and her beloved son, Alan R. Paulsen.

She is survived by her brother, John Troz, of King, WI but formerly of Stanley, WI; her daughter, JoAnn L. Paulsen of Thorp, WI; and her granddaughter, Leah Paulsen-Austin of Saint Paul, MN.

Funeral services were held at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, June 17, 2011, at Holy Trinity Ukrainian Church, rural Thorp, with Rev. Ted Wojcik officiating. Burial followed in the parish cemetery.  Visitation was held from 9:00 a.m. until time of service at the church.
