Moore, Barbara A. (10 NOV 1945)

(From Patterson, N.J., Call)

Miss Barbara Anne Moore, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Louis B. Moore, Hawthorne, N.J., and Lieut. Walter F. Scheffer, son of Mr. and Mrs. F.J. Scheffer of Humbird (Clark Co.), Wis., were united in marriage Nov. 10th, 1945, at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church.  Nuptial Mass was celebrated at 10 a.m. by the Rev. Ladislaus Flex, before a gathering of over 200 relatives and friends, and a wedding dinner was served at noon at County Garden House, Ridgewood.

The bride was attired in a white faille taffeta Victorian style gown with a hoop skirt and train.  She wore a bridal illusion veil with a braided taffeta coronet headdress and carried an old-fashioned bouquet of white roses.  She also wore pearls and pearl earrings which were gifts of the groom.

Miss Mary Lenihan of Seattle, a cousin of the bride, was maid of honor.  She wore a coral taffeta gown with a sweetheart neckline and bustle effect in the back and carried an old-fashioned bouquet of blue delphiniums.  Mrs. John Tschopp and Miss Marion Spear, the bridesmaids, were similarly attired in gowns of powder blue taffeta with accordion pleated neckline and carried old-fashioned bouquets of yellow pompoms.

Carl Scholter of Milwaukee, cousin of the groom, was best man, and the ushers were Joseph Mcgoldrick and John Tschopp  of Hawthorne.

Decorations at the church were of white chrysanthemums and palms.  The wedding music included the "Ave Maria," "Jesus, Jusus, Come to Me," and "Panis Angelicus."

Decorations at the reception included bouquets of white chrysanthemums at each table and a three tier wedding cake.

The bride’s mother wore a gown of royal blue crepe with a Grecian neckline and black accessories, and the mother of the groom was attired in a black crepe gown trimmed with pink.  Both wore gardenia corsages.

The bride is a graduate of the Hawthorne schools and St. Joseph’s Academy, and was formerly employed as a secretary at the Wright Aeronautical Corp.  She was a member of the Wright Aero Music Club.

The groom graduated from Humbird, Wis. High School and Marquette University, Milwaukee, Wis., and enlisted in the air forces of the nation.

The couple left for a wedding trip to New England and Niagara Falls, after which they will visit relatives in Wisconsin and from there travel to El Paso, Tex., where the groom is stationed as a B-29 navigator.

Lt. Scheffer and bride arrived at the parental home the latter part of the week, and Sunday evening a party reception  was held in their honor.  Many neighbors and friends gathered to extend to them best wishes for a happy journey through life.
