Jenswold, Gordon E. (21 OCT 1913 - 5 SEP 1945)

Gordon E. Jenswold passed away at the Krohn Hospital, Black River Falls, Sept. 5th, 1945, after an illness, at the age of 31 years, 10 months and 14 days.

Gordon Engenhart, Jenswold, a son of Fred and Mary Jenswold, was born in Duluth, Minn., on Oct. 21, 1913.  He lived there until the age of thirteen, at which time the family moved to Rockford, Ill.  Since 1930 his parental home has been in Humbird (Clark Co., Wis.) and vicinity.  In 1933 he was a member of the graduating class of the Humbird High School, and was chosen by his classmates as president of the class.  He was a resident of Madison, Wis. for one year, and since 1939 has lived in Milwaukee.

On June 20, 1942, he was united in marriage with Miss Margaret Cornwell of Sheboygan Falls, Wis.  He was employed in Milwaukee, and at the time of his death had begun patent proceeding on several inventions.  Since his residence in Milwaukee, he was a faithful member of the First Baptist Church and was secretary of the board of deacons.

He leaves to mourn his passing, his wife Margaret; his mother, Mrs. Mary Jenswold of this village; and one brother, Walter of Kalamazoo, Mich.  Another brother, George, gave his life in France Sept. 20, 1944; and his father preceded him in death just a few weeks ago.

Funeral services were held last Saturday afternoon, Sept. 8th, at the chapel in Fairchild and at the Methodist Church in this village, the Rev. E.J. Sachtjen officiating; his theme was a "Forward Look Beyond the Grave," John 14: 2-4.  Mrs. Will Theiler and Mrs. Lillian Klassy, accompanied by Mrs. Walter Smith, sang "Face to Face," "God will Take Care of You," and "Rock of Ages."  Pallbearers were Edmund Noyes, Nordahl Fristad, Leo Janke, Walter Wicher, Geo. Zimmerman, and Elmer Duerkop.  Interment was in Mentor Cemetery.  Many beautiful floral emblems from relatives and friends were a loving tribute to the memory of the deceased.

Friends and relatives from away to pay their last respects were: Walter Jenswold of Kalamazoo, Mich.; Mrs. Walter Jenswold, Clovis, N.M.; Mr. and Mrs. L.W. Cornwell, Sheboygan Falls; Mrs. A. Wittren, Fairchild; Mr. and Mrs. H.R. Wittren and family, Altoona; Mr. James Hanson, Miss Lucy Woodward, and Mrs. George Engle, all of Wautoma.
