Williams, Alice E. (12 January 1885 - 4 September 1962)

 

Miss Alice E. Williams, 77, of Greenwood died September 4.  Death was attributed to pneumonia.  She had been in poor health for several years.

 

Miss Williams the daughter of John and Alice (Cooper) Williams was born January 12, 1885, in Aberdeen, S. D.  She spent her girlhood in Necedah High School and a business school in Lansing, Mich.

 

Later she was employed in banks in Chicago and Necedah and was cashier in the "Big Store", now the Farmers Store.  In 1935, she and her sister, Miss Florence Williams, purchased the Elias Sheets residence, where she had resided since.

 

Miss Williams organized the Greenwood Library and donated many books.

 

Surviving area a sister, Miss Florence Williams of Greenwood; and three brothers: her twin, Antes Williams, of Lyndon Station; and Frank and Robert Williams of Milwaukee.  Mrs. John Wuethrich of Greenwood is a niece.

 

Funeral services were held Friday afternoon from the Hill Funeral Home, with the Rev. Gene Carlson officiating.  Graveside rites were held in Necedah that afternoon, and burial was made in the Bay View Cemetery there, with the Rev. L. Shaw, pastor of the Necedah Methodist Church, officiating.

 

Pallbearers were: John Lindner, John Snedic, John Zagozen, Einar Jackson, Fred Behrens and Don Warner.  Mrs. Wayne Voss and Mary Syth sang, "God Be With You Till We meet Again" and "Back of the Clouds", accompanied by Mrs. Don Warner.

 

Attending the funeral here from away were, Mrs. Hilda Williams, of Ogema; Mr. and Mrs. Roland Williams, Mr. and Mrs. Theodore Williams and Robert Williams of Milwaukee; Mrs. Clarence Robideau of Milwaukee; Robert Williams and Mrs. Lee Shaw of Chicago.

 

Those from here who attended the rites at Necedah were: Mrs. John Wuethrich, Mrs. John Zagozen and son, John, and Mrs. John Snedic.
