McCarty, Mary Ann (Marriage - 1 September 1962)

Nuptial vows were exchanged Saturday in a double ring ceremony in St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Neillsville, uniting in marriage Miss Mary Ann McCarty and James Joseph Gall, both of Neillsville.  The Rev. Fr. Bernard T. Kelly performed the ceremony before an altar decorated with baskets of white gladioli.  Parents of the couple are Mr. and Mrs. Fred McCarty of Rt. 2 Neillsville and Mr. and Mrs. Edwin Gall of Neillsville.

The bride was escorted into the church by her father.   For her wedding she chose a white floor length gown of chiffon crystallite, styled with a full bouffant skirt.  An overskirt of Chantilly lace was edged with lace studded appliqués. The back was detailed with a bow and a full chapel train formed at the waistline. The lace-fitted bodice featured a scalloped Sabrina neckline studded with sequins and pearls and long, tapered sleeves came to a point at the wrists.

A bouffant shoulder-length veil of imported silk illusion, with hand-rolled edge, was attached to a Queen’s crown, which was trimmed with tiny silk organza roses scalloped with seed pearls.  She carried a bridal bouquet of orange fall roses entwined with white stephanotis and green leaves.

Miss Jeanie Hainz was maid of honor, Miss Darlene McCarty, Bettie Finder and Karen DeMert were bridesmaids.  They were attired in pumpkin cocktail-length dresses with modified bell skirts made of delusion satin. Their tucked, fitted bodices were fashioned with scoop necklines and cap sleeves, Tiaras to match were of scalloped nylon net, trimmed with rhinestones and pearls from which nose veils were attached.

The bestman was David Hoppa.  Groomsmen were Eugene Hagen, Tom Gall and Mike Holub.  Ushers were Art Gall and Ed Holub.

Lori Kay Smagacz of Wisconsin Rapids served as miniature bride and Rick Bennett, Wisconsin Rapids, carried the rings on a white satin pillow.

The children’s choir of St. Mary’s Church furnished nuptial music.

A reception was held in the afternoon in the American Legion Hall, and a dance followed at the Silver Dome that evening.

Mr. and Mrs. Gall have returned from a short wedding trip to northern Wisconsin and are residing on Rt. 3, Neillsville.

The bride is a graduate of the Neillsville High School and is employed at The Clark County Press.  Mr. Gall attended St. Mary’s Catholic School and has served with the army.  He is employed in a garage in Loyal.
