Bergman, Adolph J. (11 SEP 1883 - 11 MAY 1945)

Adolph John Bergman, oldest son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Anton Bergman, was born on a farm in Fairview vicinity, Sept. 11^th, 1883, and died at his home, not far from his birthplace, about 7:30 Friday evening, May 11, 1945, after a long illness.  He attained the age of 61 years and 8 months.

Mr. Bergman was one of a family of seven children.  He attended the school and grew to young manhood in the vicinity that was his lifelong home.  On Feb. 23, 1927, he was united in holy wedlock at the Sacred Heart Church in Eau Claire, with Miss Rosa Operkuch, a native of Wittenberg, Germany.

The occupation of this esteemed citizen was that of farmer, in which pursuit he was universally successful.

He is survived by his wife, two brothers and four sisters: Anton, Mrs. Justina Selz, Michael, Miss Mary, Mrs. Helen Blader, and Miss Agnes.  There are ten nieces, ten nephews, and a number of cousins, besides other relatives and many friends who mourn his death.

Rosary was at the home Sunday evening, and funeral services were conducted at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, Fairview, at 9:30 Monday forenoon, by the Rev. R.J. Geissler, and were attended by many friends.  Burial was in the cemetery at the church.  The pallbearers were Frank Scheffer, Joseph Kaufman, Albert Kaufman, Joseph Pflieger, Herman Mayer, and Andrew Kohn.

Of the relatives and friends from away here to the attended the last rites were his brothers and sister, Michael Bergman of West Allis, and Mrs. Max Blader of Wautoma; Mr. and Mrs. J. Berg, Miss Rose Kaufman, of Eau Claire; Mrs. Kate Daniels, Mr. and Mrs. Albert Kaufman, of Augusta.
