Leiser, Ruth I. (6 FEB 1902 - 2 MAY 1945)

Mrs. Jacob Leiser died suddenly at her home in Milwaukee after a short illness, about 6:00 o’clock Wednesday afternoon of last week.  Pneumonia was the cause of her untimely passing away.  The remains were brought to her old home here for burial.

Ruth Irene, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Fletcher Green, was born on Feb. 6, 1902, at Virginia, Minn., and passed away May 2, 1945, at her home in Milwaukee, at the age of 43 years, 2 months and 26 days.

As an infant she came with her parents to a farm near Augusta, and later the family moved to this village, where she grew to young womanhood.

On July 6, 1927, she was united in marriage to Jacob Leiser.  To this union were born eleven children, five of whom died in infancy.  The six children surviving her are:  May Harriet, Elsie Anna, Ruth Irene, Eula Laura, Elizabeth Pauline, and Verna Darlene.

During the early years of her marriage they resided in Eau Claire, and later moved to a farm in the town of Dewhurst, where they lived several years.  They then resided in Humbird (Clark Co., Wis.) for some time, before moving to Milwaukee about a year ago.

Besides her husband and daughter, she leaves to mourn, her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Green of this village, and two brothers, Theodore and Herbert of Milwaukee; and a number of nieces and nephews, besides many other relatives and friends.

Services were held at St. John’s Church at 2:00 o’clock last Saturday afternoon, and were attended by a goodly number of friends and neighbors.  The pastor, the Rev. N.J. Dechant, used as a text for the sermon, "Therefore be ye also ready; for in such an hour as ye think not the Son of man cometh," Math 24:44.  The musical selections, "The Touch of His Hand," "Some Time We’ll Understand," and "Under His Wing," were by Mrs. W.E. Waters and Mrs. Walter Smith, with Mrs. Will Theiler accompanist.  Pallbearers were Clarence Collins, Peter Fradenburg, Harry Iffland, John Michael, Edmund Noyes, and Archie Sparkes.  Burial was in Mentor Cemetery.

Out of town relatives and friends present at the services were: Mrs. Bert Winter, daughters Alice and Grace, from Neillsville, and her son, T-5 Clifford Winter, from Miami, Fla.; Mrs. Anna Gysen and Mrs. Laura Leiser of Neillsville; Theodore and Herbert Green of Milwaukee.  Mrs. Theodore Green and Mrs. Herbert Green were unable to attend because of illness in their families.
