Dettman, Dennis A. (March 21, 1941 - June 4, 2011)

 

Dennis A. Dettman, age 70, of Dorchester, passed away Saturday, June 4, 2011, at the Golden Living Center in Abbotsford.

 

Dennis was born March 21, 1941, to Ruben and Clara (Schueneman) Dettman in Athens. 

 

He attended Athens grade school until the family moved to a farm outside Curtiss in 1950.

 

He finished his schooling at the Curtiss grade school. Dennis worked for the Dorchester Feed Store and Co-op in feed and fertilizer until his retirement in 1996. 

 

He enjoyed farming, plowing snow, mowing lawns with his sister, driving feed trucks, watching the Green Bay Packers and providing transportation for Mennonites. 

 

Dennis is survived by his sisters, Betty Haufe, Abbotsford, Janet Potocnick, Missouri, and Karen Dettman, Madison. 

 

He was preceded in death by his parents; and a brother, Leroy Dettman. 


A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, June 8, 2011, at the Maurina Schilling Funeral Home in Abbotsford. Pastor Bruce Jahnke will officiate. A visitation will be held Tuesday, June 7, 2011 from 5 - 8 p.m. at the Maurina-Schilling Funeral Home in Abbotsford, as well as 10 a.m. until the time of service Wednesday. Burial will follow at the Dorchester Memorial Cemetery, Dorchester.
