Mr. Hamilton was born in the town of Mentor (Clark Co., Wis.) on May 26, 1873, and was nearing 72 years of age at the time of his death.  His home has been in the village of Merrillan for many year.  For forty-one years he was engaged in business there as fuel and feed merchant and drayman.  Throughout that period he was active in civic, fraternal and church affairs.  He was a member of the Methodist Church, the Masonic Lodge, the Eastern Star, Odd Fellows, and Modern Woodmen.  He served as a member of the school board in Merrillan for several terms, and also represented that village as supervisor on the county board for a number of years.  He was vice chairman of the county board at the time of his death.

Funeral services were held at the Methodist Church in Merrillan last Sunday afternoon, Rev. R.W. Sachtjen officiated.  Masonic burial rites were given by W.E. Waters of this village, member of the order from Humbird, Black River Falls, and Merrillan attending.  Burial was in Merrillan Cemetery.
