Williams, Lillian (3 APR 1944)

Sgt. Lyle S. Martin, son of Mr. and Mrs. Chas. S. Martin, and Miss Lillian Williams, were quietly married on Monday, April 3rd, 1944, in the parish church in Shotton, Durhamshire, England.  The bride, who is a most attractive appearing young lady, was prettily gowned in pink satin for this eventful ceremony, and the groom wore his army dress uniform.  The attendants were the bride’s sister, Miss Mary Williams, and brother, William.  Present were the sisters and brothers of the bride and their families.

The groom is a well-known young man of this vicinity (Humbird, Clark Co., Wis.), a graduate of our high school with the class of 1932.  He has been in England for some time, stationed near London.  His bride is a native of the city where the nuptials were celebrated.  She has been in the Auxiliary Territorial Service and is employed as a telephone operator.  She is planning on coming here if transportation arrangements can be made, probably before the close of the war.
