Neuenfeldt, Gerald Francis (15 September 1922 - 19 June 1962)

 

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Friday from St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Greenwood for Gerald Francis Neuenfeldt, 39, who died in an ambulance enroute to a Marshfield hospital at 7:40 a.m. Tuesday.

 

Neuenfeldt, owner and operator of Jerry’s Café in Greenwood, suffered a heart attack about 7 a.m. and was being taken to the hospital when stricken a second time.  He was pronounced dead on the arrival at the hospital..

 

Preceding the service at the church a service will be held at 9 a.m. Friday from the Hill Funeral Home. The Rev. Augustine Svete will be in charge.  Military graveside rites will be under the Wallis-Hinker Post, No. 21, American Legion, of which Neuenfeldt was a member.

 

Neuenfeldt was born September 15, 1922, in Greenwood, the son of William F. and Mabel (O’Connor) Neuenfeldt.  He was graduated from Greenwood High School in 1940, and spent about two and a half years in the state college at Stevens Point before entering the army during World War II.  Following his service he was associated for a short time with his father and brother, Albert, in the publication of the Greenwood Gleaner, of which Albert still is the publisher.

 

Neuenfeldt was married on May 31, 1958, to Shirley Cox in Greenwood.  They are the parents of a daughter, Mary Beth.  Also surviving in addition to his wife and daughter are: his mother; and three brothers, Albert of Greenwood; Charles, publisher of The Record at Spencer; and James of St. Paul, Minn.
