Krause, Joseph Herman (6 April 1875 - 24 April 1962)

Funeral services will be held Friday at 2 p.m. from St. John’s Lutheran Church for Joseph Herman Krause, 87, who died Tuesday.  He had been a hospital patient for several months.  The Rev. Norman Lindloff will officiate. Burial will be made in Windfall Cemetery near Granton.

Mr. Krause, son of the late Emil and Marie (Trimberger) Krause, was born April 6, 1875, in Sheboygan Falls.  He was one of eight children.  When he was five years old the family moved to Clark County and located in the Town of Grant.  He received his education in the rural schools of that town and as a young lad worked in lumbering camps.

Following his marriage to Julia Foemmel on November 8, 1899, in the Mapleworks Church at Granton, he took over his parents farm.  For 15 years he operated an apiary and had as many as 160 colonies of bees.  During those years he cleared land for his farm and built the buildings.  In 1925 he retired from farming.  His son, George took over the operation of the farm.

He moved to Neillsville then and for 30 years was in the insurance and real estate business.  Ill health forced  him to sell his business several years ago.

He is survived by the following children: George Krause, Neillsville; Mrs. Steve (Esther) Jelinski, Milwaukee; Mrs. Werner (Blanche) Jenni, Neillsville; Mrs. Joe (Ida) Seubert, Cedarburg; Oscar Krause, Watertown; and Elmer Krause, Neenah.

Other survivors include 16 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and the following sisters and brothers: Mrs. Nels (Clara) Bergquast, Chicago, Ill.; Mrs. Oscar (Amelia) Fillinger, Marinette; Mr. Ray (Emma) Demoss, Riverside, Cal.; Mrs. Carl (Carrie) Sukow, Merrill; John Krause, Nashua, Mont.; and Henry Krause, Neillsville.

The Georgas Funer4al Home is making funeral arrangements.
