Johnson, Caroline L. #2 (19 APR 1873 - 30 OCT 1942)

 

Caroline Lelia, daughter of William and Vesta Presher, was born April 19, 1873, and passed away at the home of her daughter, Mrs. John Erickson, Oct. 30, 1942, at 4:45 p.m., at the age of 69 years, 6 months and 11 days.

 

She was born at Argyle, Wis., and came with her parents to Humbird (Clark Co., Wis.) when a small child.  She attended the Wilbur school in the vicinity of Humbird.  She was united in marriage to Henry Llewellyn Johnson Sept. 12, 1890.  On Sept. 12, 1940, they celebrated their golden wedding anniversary.  She was a charter member of Royal Neighbor Lodge No. 3092 of Humbird.

 

She had been in failing health the past four years, the past month failing rapidly.

 

One son, Charlie, preceded her in death, also her only brother, Sidney Presher.  She leaves to mourn her death, her husband, one son, Ira Dean of Long Beach, Calif.; and three daughters: Mrs. John Erickson (Vesta), Chili, Wis., Mrs. Ivan Putman (Dorothy), Janesville, Wis., and Mrs. Herbert Phillips (Ruth), Rockford, Ill.; one sister, Mrs. Jennie Livingston; thirteen grandchildren; a number of nephews, nieces, cousins and a host of friends.

 

Pallbearers were Fred Grottke, James Tilton, Ludwig Johnson, August Schultz, Anton Hogenson and Frank Bushow.

 

Funeral services were held at the home, and at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday in the Methodist Church in this village, with interment in Mentor Cemetery.  Rev. M. Ferguson of Lindsey officiated.
