Sorenson, Hendrick #2 (11 APR 1886 - 18 FEB 1960)

Friends and relatives were deeply shocked upon learning of the death of Hendrick Sorenson, 73, who passed away Thursday, Feb. 18, 1960, at the home of Richard Bowen.

"He took a nap in the afternoon and never woke up."

Military funeral services were held Monday, Feb. 22, at the Emmanuel Lutheran Church, Longwood, with the Rev. I.J. Tanner officiating.  Miss Bonnie Kraut sang "Heaven in My Home," and was accompanied by Mrs. June Morschek who played the piano.  Burial was made at the church cemetery with military rites conducted by the American Legion Post 123.

Pallbearers were James Peterson, Arthur Himes, William Kangas, Viano Talso, Vandy Hautamaki and William Kolpanen.  In charge of the floral pieces were Mr. James Peterson, Mrs. Arthur Himes and Mrs. William Kolpanen.

Hendrick Sorenson was the son of Martin and Hannah Sorenson.  He was born on the 11th of April 1886, at Curtiss (Clark Co., Wis.) and was baptized in the Lutheran Church.  As a small child he moved with his parents to the farm located one mile east of Longwood.  There he grew to young manhood and was confirmed in the Emmanuel Lutheran Church, Longwood.  He worked in the logging camp at Ladysmith and then moved to Fargo, N.D., and was employed as a barber.  He spent 28 years of his life in the military service and overseas duty.  In the year of 1947 he was discharged at Fort Know, Ky.  He returned to this vicinity and made his home in the Owen area until the time of his death.

He is survived by two brothers, Olaf of Milwaukee and Emil of Longwood, and one sister, Mrs. Nora Peterso of California.  His parents, two brothers and one sister preceded him in death.
