Habighorst, Karen (23 JAN 1960)

Saturday, Jan. 23, 1960, Miss Karen Habighorst exchanged marriage vows with Douglas Haselow at a ceremony performed at 4:00 o’clock in the afternoon by the Rev. Theodore Predoehl, pastor of St. John’s Lutheran Church, Withee.

Parents of the couple are Mr. and Mrs. Robert Habighorst, Owen (Clark Co., Wis.), and Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Haselow, Owen.

Miss Habighorst selected a floor length gown of white crystalette which featured a fitted bodice and embroidery.  Her fingertip veil was attached to a crown which was featured with tiny seed pearls.  To complete the ensemble she carried a white orchid and lily of the valley bouquet.

Red gowns were chosen for the bridal attendants.  Mrs. Ervin Buhs of Zap, N.D.. was matron of honor and Miss Carol Mathewson was bridesmaid.  Junior bridesmaids were Katie Habighorst, the bride’s sister, and Linda Haselow, the groom’s sister.  All the girls wore identical dresses of red velvet bodices with matching full skirts and cummerbunds in taffeta.  They carried flower bouquets of red and white baby mums.

Duane Haselow was his brother’s best man and the bride’s brother, John Habighorst, was groomsman.  Ushering duties were performed by Charles Haselow and Peter Sinzig.

Professional and recessional music was played by the bride’s high school classmate, Miss Jane Grimes of Minneapolis, Minn.  At the conclusion of the ceremony Arlyn Mils rendered a vocal solo and selected "The Lord’s Prayer."

A dinner was served at the church basement and the reception was held at the American Legion Hall, Owen.

Mr. and Mrs. Haselow are making their home at Madison where the groom is attending the University of Wisconsin.  Mrs. Haselow graduated from the Luther School of Nursing at Eau Claire and is presently employed at the University Hospital.  Both young people are graduates of the Owen-Withee school system.
