Koerner, Martha #3 (9 MAY 1897 - 15 DEC 1959)

 

Funeral services for Mrs. Martha Koerner, 62, who died Dec. 15, 1959, were held Saturday afternoon in the Evangelical Lutheran Church at Curtiss.  The Rev. Max E. Wilhelm officiated and burial was made in Pine Hill Cemetery.

 

Pallbearers were Alfred Erickson, Albert Smith, Albert Bakke, Jack Johnson, Orville Laabs and Clarence Geary.

 

Mrs. Opal Peissig and Mrs. Verla Mattson, accompanied by Miss Judy Laabs, sang "What a Friend We Have in Jesus" and "Beyond the Sunset."

 

Relatives from away who attended the rites were Elroy Krueger, Albuquerque, N.M.; Mr. and Mrs. Carl Crement, Chicago, Ill.; Lester Krueger, Appleton; Herman Stacke, Mrs. Charles Olson and Mr. and Mrs. Robert Hanson, all of Chicago, Ill.; Mrs. Emil Trester, Mrs. Don Olson and Wesley Revie, Milwaukee; Mr. and Mrs. Oscar Dombrowe, Aberdeen, S.D.; William Koerner and son, Laverne and Herbert, Fontana; Harold Koerner, Madison; Mr. and Mrs. George Uhlig, Pittsville; Mr. and Mrs. Donald Trowbridge and Mr. and Mrs. Charles Trowbridge, Milladore; Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Koern, Ripon; Mr. and Mrs. Lawrence Krueger, Marshfield; Mr. and Mrs. Rudy Dombrowe, Wausau, and Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Voightlander, Curtiss.

 

The former Martha Stacke was born May 9, 1897 at Neillsville, and was educated in the Neillsville schools.  She married Fred Krueger on Jan. 24, 1917.  He died in 1930.  On Dec. 7, 1940, she married Erwin Koerner who survives her.  She has lived in the Curtiss area almost all of her adult life.  She was a member of the Evangelical Lutheran Church and its Ladies Aid Society.

 

Other survivors are two sons, Elroy Krueger of Albuquerque, N.M.; Lester Krueger of Appleton, Wis.; Mrs. Carl (Valoris) Crement, Chicago, Ill., Mrs. Fred (Vera Dean) Laabs, Curtiss; seven grandchildren; four brothers, Herman Stacke, Chicago, Ill., Adolph Stacke, Curtiss, William Stacke, Wausau, Walter Stacke, Albuquerque, N.M.; six sisters, Betty Pasquesi, Portland, Ore., Lydia Revie, Dorchester, Louise Olson and Faye Hanson, both of Chicago, Ill., Adeline Miller, Curtiss, Ethel Hanson, Yakima, Wash.; her mother, Mrs. Augusta Stacke, Curtiss.
