Schmid, Anselm "A.J." III (March 1, 1921 - April 24, 2011)

 

Anselm "A.J." Schmid III, age 90, of Dorchester, passed away at his home Easter Sunday, April 24, 2011, with his wife at his side.

 

His funeral service will be held on Friday, April 29 at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Colby. Father Daniel Hackel will officiate. A visitation will be held on Thursday, April 28 from 4 to 8 p.m. at the Maurina-Schilling Funeral Home in Abbotsford, and also on Friday from 10 a.m. until the time of the service at the church.


A.J. was born on March 1, 1921 to Alice (Bushman) and Anselm P. Schmid II on their homestead in Dorchester. He attended Catholic grade school in Dorchester and graduated from Dorchester High School.

 

A.J. was joined in marriage to his wife, Rowena Feddick, on September 4, 1948 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Stetsonville.

 

A.J. was a truck driver for Anselm Schmid and Sons and Neuendorf Transportation of Medford.

 

A.J. was creative and crafty in all aspects and very mechanically inclined. For 40 years he enjoyed spending summers at his home on Lake Holcombe. He loved doing anything and everything his wife requested! He also enjoyed spending time with family and especially his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.


He is lovingly survived by his wife, Rowena; their children, Kathleen (John) Weber of Grafton, Donald (Suzzann Frane) Schmid of Dorchester, Patricia (Ronald King) Schmid of Sacramento, Calif., Marilyn (Kirk) Schjoneman of Denmark, Marjean Baillie of Arlington Heights, Ill., Judene (Steve) Harris of Hanover Park, Ill., Jerrold Schmid of Dorchester and Evonne (Ross) Rannow of Colby.

 

A.J. is further survived by his grandchildren Christopher (Leah) Weber, Andrew (Angela) Weber, Joseph (Dayna) Weber, Brad (Kate) Schjoneman, Angelica (Dave) Westly, Nicholas Baillie, Amanda (Bruce) Merrill, Tiffani (Joseph) Strasburg and Tanya (Tom Placeres) Rannow; his great-grandchildren, Katelyn and Emily Weber, John Jay Weber, Alyssa, Nathan and Kyla Westly, Kourtney Schjoneman, Hayden and Ashlyn Strasburg; and two step-great-grandchildren.


A.J. is preceded in death by his parents; two brothers and three sisters.
