Nelson, Otto (1 JUN 1875 - 24 JUN 1958)

 

Funeral services were held at the Holway Lutheran Church June 27th for Otto Ludwig Nelson, age 83, who died June 24, 1958 at his home in the town of Holway.  Pastor Max Wilhelm officiated at the rites, with burial in Evergreen Cemetery.

 

Otto Ludwig Nelson was born June 1, 1875, in DePere and came to Taylor County with his parents when he was a year old.  They settled in the town of Little Black.  Engaged as a farmer and woodsman, he was married to Matilda Nelson on Feb. 5, 1900.  They have been living in their present residence the past 58 years.

 

He was a member of the Holway Lutheran Church and served as its treasurer.

 

Besides the widow, survivors include eight children: Glen Nelson of Portland, Ore.; Clarence Nelson, Eau Claire; Louise, Mrs. Art Meier, Withee; Ells, Mrs. Ed Mildbrand, Curtiss; Gladys, Mrs. William wild, Medford; Orville Nelson, town of Holway; Larry Nelson, Curtiss; and Gordon Nelson, town of Little Black.  There are 29 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren.

 

Also surviving are one brother, Gilbert Nelson of the town of Holway, and one sister, Hilda, Mrs. Olaf Halverson of Sturgis, Saskatchewan, Canada.  Two sisters and two brothers preceded him in death.
