Miller, Marie (6 SEP 1882 - 10 MAY 1958)

 

Funeral services were held Tuesday afternoon at Nazareth Lutheran Church for Mrs. Marie C. Miller, 75, who died in Memorial Hospital at Neillsville on May 10, 1958.  The Rev. W. Clayton Nielsen officiated at the service and burial was made in the parish cemetery.

 

Pallbearers were Eugene Purgett, Mahlon Purgett, Ellsworth Shock Jr., Edward Frei, Douglas Bergstrom and Jeffrey Miller.  The flowers were in charge of Palma Miller, Olive Miller, Alfa Holm and Karen Holm.

 

Hymns were sung by the church choir, accompanied by Miss Louise Hansen at the organ.

 

Mrs. Miller was born Sept. 6, 1882 in Superior and as a small child came to live in the Withee area (Clark Co., Wis.).  She was married to Edward Bergstrom in Withee on Jan. 10, 1902.  He died Sept. 6, 1923.  Later she married Fred Miller, who died in 1957.

 

Mrs. Miller was a charter member of the Nazareth Lutheran Ladies Aid, of which she had been treasurer for about 50 years.  She also was treasurer of the Withee Livestock Association for a number of years, and had been bookkeeper for the Withee Cooperative Creamery for some time.

 

Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Charles (Florence) Purgett, Thiensville; Mrs. Ellsworth (Frances) Shock, Neillsville; a sons, Edward, Owen; 12 grandchildren and 24 great-grandchildren.

 

One son, Harvey, preceded her in death in 1937.
