David A. Ditsch, age 39, of Thorp, passed away on Sunday, February 27, 2011, at his home. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, March 3, 2011, at St. Bernard-St. Hedwig Catholic Church in Thorp.  Burial will follow in St. Bernard’s Catholic Cemetery.  Visitation will be held at Thorp Funeral home on Wednesday, March 2, 2011 from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. with a 7:00 p.m. rosary.  Visitation will also be held at the church, on Thursday, from 9:30 a.m. until time of service.

 

Thorp Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.

David A. Ditsch, 39, of Thorp passed away on Sunday, February 27, 2011, at his home in the Town of Reseburg. Funeral services were held on Thursday, March 3, 2011 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Bernard-St. Hedwig Catholic Church in Thorp. Rev. Keith Apfelbeck officiated and burial followed in St. Bernard’s Catholic Cemetery.  Visitation was held at Thorp Funeral Home on Wednesday, March 2, 2011 from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. with a 7:00 p.m. rosary. Visitation was also held at the church on Thursday from 9:30 a.m. until time of service.

 

David Anthony Ditsch was born on June 11, 1971, in Elgin, IL, the son of Arthur R. and Mary (Jones) Ditsch.  He was raised in the Elgin area until his family moved to rural Thorp, WI in 1981. David completed his elementary education and graduated from Thorp High School in 1990.  He enlisted into the U. S. Army on August 7, 1990, and served during Operation Desert Storm until his honorable discharge on August 6, 1994. David then enrolled in Chippewa Valley Technical College in Eau Claire, and later attended Hutchinson Technical College in Hutchinson, MN. After completing his education, David worked for several years for various pipeline companies throughout the United States. For the past four years, he worked for Siemens USA as an inspector of electrical turbines.

 

In his spare time, David loved to hunt, fish, go 4-wheeling and especially enjoyed motorcycle riding.

 

He is survived by his parents, Arthur and Mary Ditsch of Lublin; one brother, Scott (Ann Vukasovich) Ditsch of Lublin; two sisters: Teresa Ditsch of Orlando, FL, and Lisa (Ronald) Ewer of Hopkinsville, KY; four nieces; eight nephews; two great-nieces; two great-nephews; other relatives and friends.
