Peterson, JoAnn (Marriage - 17 June 1961)

The Grace Methodist Church in Greenwood was the setting Saturday for the marriage of Miss JoAnn Peterson of Greenwood and Wayne H. Voss of Loyal.  Nuptial vows were exchanged before an altar decked with baskets of yellow gladioli and mixed flowers in a double ring ceremony performed by the Rev. Gene W. Carlson.

Parents of the couple are Mr. and Mrs. Lloyd Peterson and Mr. and Mrs. Herbert Voss.

The bride, who was given in marriage by her father, was attired in a floor length gown fashioned with a chapel train of nylon organza. Tiers and tiers of shiffli embroidery styled the full bouffant skirt. The fitted bodice of  embroidery was enhanced by a Sabrina neckline and long, fitted sleeves. A crown of seed pearls and sequins held a fingertip veil.  She wore crystal accessories and carried a cascade bouquet of white carnations and yellow tea roses, centered with two large purple orchids.

Miss Jean Noeldner, a close friend, was her maid of honor.  Bridesmaids were Miss LaVonne Hubert, a cousin, of Milwaukee, and Miss Colene Dyre, a friend, of Chicago, Ill.  They were attired in yellow dresses of nylon chiffon over taffeta.  Three shades of yellow embroidery on the skirts and a Grecian neckline accented the gowns. They wore crowns of yellow nylon and crystals from which their nose veils were attached. Each carried a heart shaped bouquet of tea roses and carnations.

Kenneth Voss attended his brother as best man. Groomsmen were Jerold Peterson, a brother of the bride, and Lee Cook.  Richard Schlinsog of Marshfield, and Roger Standiford of Greenwood, ushered.

Nuptial music was played by Charles Ivy at the organ, who also was accompanist for Donald and Nathan Noeldner who sang, "Today O Lord," "O Perfect Love" and "The Lord’s Prayer."

Following the ceremony a reception was held at the bride’s home. At 5 o’clock a wedding dinner was served in the church parlors for 300 guests.

On their return from a wedding trip to northern Wisconsin the new Mr. and Mrs. Voss will reside in Greenwood, where the bride is a lab technician at the Wuethrich Creamery Company, and where her husband is also employed.

Out of town guests attending the wedding were from Loyal, Neillsville, Marshfield, Manitowoc, Milwaukee, Wisconsin Rapids, Superior, Thorp, Stevens Point, Stetsonville, Green Bay, Spencer, Wausau, Nekoosa, Crosse Point, New Richmond, Medford and Chicago, Ill. and Hibbing, Minn.

Saturday was the 25th wedding anniversary of the bride’s parents, who were married at the same time in the same church 25 years ago.  Identical wedding cakes were cut at the dinner honoring each couple.
