Embke, Louie (9 March 1891 - 16 May 1961)

 

Funeral services were held Friday from the United Church for Louie Embke, 70, of Neillsville, who died suddenly May 16, at his home. The Rev. Frank B. Harcey officiated.  Burial was made in the Neillsville City Cemetery.

 

Mr. Embke was born March 9, 1891, in Illinois, the son of the late Fred and Margaret (Peterson) Embke. When he was a small child, his family moved to Clark County, locating on a farm in the Town of Pine Valley.  As a young man he did carpenter work and engaged in farming.  In 1959 he retired and moved to Neillsville.

 

On September 25, 1926, he was married to Elizabeth Bernhardt, in Stevens Point.

 

Surviving are his wife; and sons, Norbert of Neillsville; and Walter of Wausau.  Other survivors include three grandchildren; two sisters, Mrs. Hanna John of Stevens Point and Miss Emma Embke of Elgin, Ill.; and three brothers, Henry and William of Neillsville and Herman of Rt. 2, Neillsville.

 

He was a member of the United Church of Christ.

 

Pallbearers were A. B. Wightman, Clifford Winters, Tom Yndogliato, Leo Pflughoeft, Albert Mohr and Clifford Karl.  "Rock of Ages" and "Abide with Me" were sung by Ellis Wall, accompanied by Mrs. Jacob Grether.

 

Georgas Funeral Home made funeral arrangements.

 

People from out of town here for the services were: Mr. and Mrs. Walter Embke, Wausau; Mrs. Emilie Peterson, Bloomingdale, Ill.; Albert John and Mrs. Hanna John, Stevens Point; Miss Emma Embke, Elgin, Ill.; Mr. and Mrs. Roy Gibson, and Gerold Gibson, Milwaukee; Mr. and Mrs. Fred Mielke, Mrs. Hanna Hoesly, and Mrs. Elmer Hoesly, Marshfield.
