Schmidtke, Augusta (6 July 1865 - 6 January 1935)

 

Mrs. Augusta Schmidtke died Sunday, Jan. 6th, at the Neillsville Hospital, as a result of complications. She had been there the past six weeks.

 

Augusta Schultz was born July 6th, 1865 at Riessen, East Prussia, Germany. She was married there to Herman Schmidtke and they with two children came to the United States in the year 1890, settling in the Town of Fremont, which has since been her home.

 

Mr. Schmidtke died in the year 1907, after which she managed the home farm until 1927.  After this she made her home with her daughters.

 

She leaves to mourn her death 12 children, seven sons and five daughters, namely: Gustav, Otto, Herman, Paul of Fremont, Ernest of Menasha, Henry of Hankinson, N. Dakota and Wm. of Granton; Mrs. Gusta Madler and Mrs. Mae Dankemeyer of Fremont, Mrs. Caroline Molvey of Clintonville and Mrs. Ella Dumas of Tacoma, Wash.  There are twenty-one grandchildren and two great grandchildren.  She also leaves one brother, Adolph Schultz of Spencer, Wis.

 

All those that came in contact with Mrs. Schmidtke knew her as a kind friend and neighbor.

 

The funeral services were held Wednesday, Jan. 9th, at 12:30 at the home farm and 2:30 at the Mapleworks Church with the Rev. Arthur Laesch officiating.  The pallbearers were six of the sons of the deceased.

 

The flower girls were Mrs. Lloyd Rewey, Miss Natalie Dankemyer, Miss Naomi Mundt and Miss Esther Elmhorst.

 

Those from away who attended the funeral were Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Schmidtke, Menasha; Mrs. Clara Hurrell, (this name not clear), Menasha; Mrs. Ella Dumas, Tacoma, Wash.; Mr. and Mrs. Maurice Molvey, Clintonville.
