Johnson, Eileen M. (Marriage - 8 May 1954)

Miss Eileen M. Johnson, faculty member of the Loyal Public School, became the bride of Richard B. Calkins, Eau Claire, in a 2 p.m. ceremony Saturday, May 8, at the Nazareth Lutheran Church, Withee, with the Rev. W. Clayton Neilsen, officiating.

Parents of the newlyweds are: Mr. and Mrs. Fred L. Johnson, Withee, and Mr. and Mrs. W. B. Calkins, Eau Claire.

The bride’s gown was of ivory satin, accented with Chantilly lace, styled with fitted bodice, lace yoke, and long sleeves and a full skirt with appliqués of lace, and an overskirt of lace over a full sweeping train.  Her fingertip veil of imported silk illusion was caught to a crown of seed pearls and brilliants.  She carried white roes on a white Bible, and also carried an ivory silk handkerchief which had belonged to her great-great-grandmother.

Audrey Johnson, La Crosse, was matron-of-honor for her sister in law. Her Adrian blue gown was made with a strapless tucked bodice and worn with a lace jacket.  She carried pink roses on a blue lace fan. The bridesmaids, Nancy Calkins, Eau Claire, the groom’s sister, and Audrey Keinholz, Chicago, friend of the bride wore gowns of similar style to that of the matron-of-honor, in pink.  They carried pink roses on lace fans.

The groom’s attendants were Fred E. Johnson, La Crosse, serving as bestman, and Richard C. Sanford, Mayville, the groom’s brother-in-law, and Peter C. Banning, St. Paul, cousin of the groom, were groomsmen.
