Kallstrom, Donna Jean (17 JUN 1961)

Miss Donna Jean Kallstrom of Rockford, Ill., and Eugene Gauerke of Chicago were united in marriage Saturday in a 4 o’clock ceremony at the Evangelical Free Church in Rockford.  The Rev. Harold Erickson officiated at the double ring ceremony.

Parents of the bridal couple are Mr. and Mrs. Chester Kallstrom of Rockford and Mr. and Mrs. Melvin Gauerke of Abbotsford.

For her wedding, the bride was attired in a floor length gown of silk organza, designed with a jeweled bodice, long tapered sleeves and a Sabrina neckline.  A crown of entwined pearl hearts held her veil of pure silk illusion and her bouquet was a cascade arrangement of a white orchid, roses, carnations and stephanotis and ivy.

Attending as maid of honor was her friend, Miss Marilyn Barloga of Davis, Ill.  Bridesmaids were Miss Ann Halroyd of Belvidere, Miss Ruth Poast of Rockford and Miss Linnea Jensen of Abbotsford.  The flower girl was Miss Joyce Pokrant of Rockford, a cousin of the bride.

The bridal attendants wore floor length gowns of nylon organdy over taffeta and carried cascade bouquets of roses and carnations to match their dresses.  Rose petal pink was chosen for the maid of honor, aqua lilac and yellow for the bridesmaids.  The flower girl wore a white dress identical to the bride’s.

Kenneth Gauerke, brother of the groom, was the best man; Keith Grams of Belvidere, James Kasparek of Madison and James Pokrant of Rockford, were groomsmen; Ricky Pokrant was the ring bearer and Emery Jensen of Abbotsford was the usher.

Following the ceremony a dinner and reception attended by 170 guests were held at the church parlors.

Attending the wedding from this vicinity were Mr. and Mrs. Melvin Gauerke and Kenneth, Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Jensen and family of Abbotsford, and Mrs. Mollie Jensen and Lawrence of Dorchester.  Others came from Pepin, Pittsville, Marshfield, Minneapolis, St. Paul. Chicago, Lansing, Ill., and Ames, Iowa.

Mrs. Kallstrom wore an aqua lace and chiffon dress to her daughter’s wedding, and Mrs. Gauerke chose a beige lace dress.  Both mothers wore white accessories and had shoulder corsages of pink roses and white carnations.

Mrs. Mollie Jensen, maternal grandmother of the groom, and Mrs. Gust Pokrant, maternal grandmother of the bride, were also honored with corsages.

Mr. and Mrs. Gauerke will make their home in Elmwood Park, Ill., where he is employed as maintenance manager at Forest Park Paint Co.  Mr. Gauerke is a graduate of the Abbotsford High School.
