Gerald "Jerry" Steinpas, 60, 8782 Starks Road, Greenwood, passed away Thursday evening, August 8, 1996, at his home following a long illness.

 

Gerald Steinpas, son of Egbert and Helen (Lewandowski) Steinpas, was born May 31, 1936 in Milwaukee where he attended St. Francis Grade School and High School.  He served in the United States Air Force during the Korean Conflict from June of 1954 until December of 1957. After the service he returned back to Milwaukee where he worked for the family house painting business, at a foundry and for Marquette Cement Corporation. For several years he was also employed as a school bus driver.

 

He was united in marriage to Judith Schultz on May 18, 1991 in Milwaukee. The couple moved to Mead township in Clark County in 1992, where they raised beef cattle and pigs.  He was a member of the Thorp American Legion and the Faith Evangelical Free Church in Fall Creek.

 

He leaves to mourn his wife, Judith of Greenwood; one son, Steven Steinpas of Nashville, TN; three daughters: Patricia (Rick) Stanford of Virginia Beach, VA, Jannette (Rick) Florczak of West Allis, WI, Barbara Steinpas of Waukegan, IL; step-son Dan (Robin) Shaffer of Milwaukee; step-daughter, Patti Engelke of Mukwonago; one brother, Thomas Steinpas of West Allis; sisters: Carol (Chester) Knaus of New Holstein, WI, Ruth (Orval) Giese of St. Francis, WI; grandchildren: Rachel and Ryan Stanford, Christopher Pine and Christopher Engelke.  He was preceded in death by his parents.

 

Funeral services were held Monday, August 12, 1996 at 11:00 a.m. at the Faith Evangelical Free Church in Fall Creek with Pastor Ron Clason officiating.  Burial was in the East Thorp Cemetery, Thorp, WI.

 

Anderson Funeral Home, Augusta was in charge of arrangements.
