Withee, Wisconsin (22 December 1960)

 

Mrs. Arni Little of Withee has received word of the marriage of her mother, Mrs. Lena Durham of Iron Mountain, Mich., to Arthur Simmons.  The marriage took place in the Methodist Church at Iron Mountain December 15 and the couple is on a honeymoon in Florida.  The former Mrs. Durham is well known in the vicinity.

 

Leslie Himes, who is employed in Milwaukee, spent the weekend with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Lester Himes.

 

Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Capes of Marshfield visited his brother and wife, Mr. and Mrs. Jesse Capes, Sunday.

 

Mr. and Mrs. Walter Dresdow and two children of Green Grove visited Mr. and Mrs. William Park and the Dresdow family Sunday.

 

Mrs. Ed Frederick and Mrs. Ernest Duval visited in Greenwood and Marshfield Thursday.

 

Mrs. Ruth Kurchner and her aunt, Mrs. Emily Kilmer, and Mrs. Kurchner’s son and wife, all of Chicago, visited at the Ed Frederick home Thursday. They came for the funeral of Mrs. Herman Klabon Wednesday.

 

Also here for the Klabon funeral were Mr. Frederick’s daughter, Mrs. Florence Middlestead of Cambridge, and son, Dr. Allen Zelm of Milwaukee. 

 

Among the members of the Methodist Church of Withee who attended the open house at the Greenwood Methodist parsonage Sunday were Mrs. Robert Vater of Owen, Mr. and Mrs. Steven Rued of Curtiss, Mr. and Mrs. R. W. Giese, Mr. and Mrs. Arno Vater, Mr. and Mrs. Harris Johnson and Mr. and Mrs. Russel Martinsen.

 

Mr. and Mrs. Arno Vater were Eau Claire visitors Wednesday.

 

Mrs. Emma Burmeister went to Abbotsford Wednesday to attend the V. F. W. meeting.

 

The White School had their Christmas program Wednesday night.

 

The five sisters of Mrs. Louis Kurhais, who were here from Chicago for the funeral of their aunt, Mrs. Herman Klabon, a week ago, have returned home.  They are: Mrs. George Amend, Mrs. Gerold Leese, Mrs. John Bullard, Mrs. Alvin Hetz and Mrs. Les Pergande.  With them came an aunt, Mrs. Sophie Klabon.

 

Wednesday Mrs. Arni Little and two children drove to Green Bay, where they will be holiday guests of Mrs. Little’s sister and family, Mrs. Merton Snow.  They plan to return January 2.

 

James List, Franki Cieslik and Edward Wendt were in Ashland on business last week.

 

The Congregational Church held its Sunday school program Sunday evening.

 

Mrs. Isabel Backe went Thursday to Chicago to attend the wedding of a friend, and to visit her daughter, Joan Backe.

 

December 15 Withee Cub Scouts entertained their parents at a pack meeting held at the Nazareth Lutheran Hall.  The Den Mothers, Mrs. Pat Dix and Mrs. Beck, and Pack Master Rev. Beryl Knutsen were in attendance.
