Gehrt, Edward Ludwig (22 July 1886 - 29 November 1960)

 

Funeral services were held Friday afternoon from St. John’s Lutheran Church in Neillsville for Edward Ludwig Gehrt, 74, Rt. 2, Neillsville, who died November 29, at his farm home.  The Rev. Norman Lindloff officiated and burial was made in the Neillsville City Cemetery.

 

Mr. Gehrt, son of the late Henry and Minnie (Luck) Gehrt, was born July 22, 1886, in Waukesha.  His family came to Clark County in 1890, where he received his education.

 

He was married June 4, 1919, to the former Alma Lostin in Kaukauna. They farmed, and Mr. Gehrt also was engaged in the livestock business.  For several years he operated an express service in Neillsville.  He retired several years ago.

 

Surviving are his wife and a son Gordon of Rib Lake.  He is also survived by three sisters, Mrs. Harriet Schruth and Mrs. Clara Planteen, Sacramento, Cal., and Miss Amanda Gehrt, Neillsville, and by a brother, William of Neillsville.  (He was preceded in death by his parents, a son, Edward in WWII, and two brothers, Robert, in Germany and Harry in 1959. [Added notes by transcriber]).

 

Pallbearers were: Richard Karl, Frank Knippel, Melvin Appleyard, Edward Stelloh, William Milbreit and Louis Zank.  "Jesus Lover of My Soul," and "Rock of Ages" was sung by Miss Janice Greeler, accompanied by Victor Lehman.

 

People from out of town here for the services were: Mr. and Mrs. Gordon Gehrt, Rib Lake; Mr. and Mrs. William Krueger, Kaukauna; Mrs. Henry Boldt, Sheboygan Falls; Mr. and Mrs. Sigfrid E. Nelsen, Barron; Mrs. Bertha Volk, and Mr. and Mrs. Henry Keller, Greenwood; Mrs. Albert Wehrman and Otto Wehrman, Loyal; Mr. and Mrs. Henry Gordee, Greenwood.

 

Funeral arrangements were made by the Georgas Funeral Home.
