Marcott, Wilfred "Art" (7 APR 1935 - 24 DEC 2010)

 

CURTISS -- Wilfred "Art" Marcott, 75, of Curtiss passed away at his residence of cancer, kidney failure and diabetes Dec. 24, 2010, with his family by his side and under the care of Ministry Home Care Hospice.

 

His funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 28, 2010, at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Curtiss. Pastor Kris Bjerke-Ulliman will officiate. Visitation will be from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Monday, Dec. 27, 2010, at Maurina-Schilling Funeral Home in Abbotsford. Burial will take place in Pine Hill Cemetery in the town of Mayville following the service, with full military rites conducted by the Owen American Legion.A

 

Pallbearers will be Clint Marcott, Scott Navarre, Jon Fleming, Travis Marcott, Chad Chase and Ethan Marcott.

 

Art was born April 7, 1935, at his grandparents' farm in Curtiss to Wilfred J. and Dorothy (Pudlas) Marcott.

 

He went to Golden Willow, Medford Grade, Lauendale and Pleasant Hill Grade schools. He graduated from Abbotsford High School in 1953. Art entered the Army in 1953, where he was in the Army Security Agency, radio school and Cryptgraphic at Camp Gorden, Ga. In 1954, he was in Korea and from 1955 to 1956, he was at Fort Devans, Mass.

 

On July 7, 1956, Art married LaVerna Thieme. From 1956 to1957, he worked on Reiches farms in Dorchester. In 1958, he began his employment for DHIA in Clark County for seven years. For two years, he worked at Owen-Withee High School and for five years he was owner-operator at Grabel Moving and Storage of Wausau. He worked 20 years for Schnieder Transport of Green Bay, several years for the village of Curtiss in the sewer and water department and then retired, doing woodworking in his garage.

 

Art is survived by his wife LaVerna and five children, Bruce Marcott of Montana, Rita (Greg) Navarre of Colby, Linda Fleming of Appleton, Brian (Sue) Marcott of Eau Claire and Bryce (Gwen) Marcott of Fountain City; 16 grandchildren: Amanda, Heather, Clint, Scott, Mindy, Deanna, Jon, Adrian, Amy, Cheston, Chad, Travis, Avery, Gabby, Ethan and Jasmine; 13 great-grandchildren; siblings Don (Shirley) Marcott, Susan (John Meilbeck) Marcott and Burdella (Bill) Blumenstein; stepmother Gladys Marcott; sisters-in-law Carol Marcott and Lorena Boss; and aunts Grace Kallio, Evy Marcott and Marion Marcott. Also surviving are numerous cousins, friends and neighbors. He truly will be missed.

 

Art is preceded in death by his mother, Dorothy; father, Wilfred J.; and brothers, Bob and Richard Marcott. Memorials will be established at a later date.
