Kangas, Jane  (29 NOV 1971-22 NOV 2010)

 

Jane A. Kangas, 38, Vesper, formerly of Greenwood, passed away at Riverview Hospital, Wisconsin Rapids, on Monday, Nov. 22, 2010. Funeral services were held at noon on Saturday, Nov. 22, at Our Savior,s Lutheran Church, Greenwood. Rev. Al Moen officiated. Pallbearers were Joel Kangas, Kevin Schmidtke, Dave Peterson, Roger Peterson, Ben Laws, Will Housley and Brian Preston. Burial will be in Emmanuel Lutheran Cemetery, Longwood, at a later date.

 

Jane Anne Kangas was born on Nov. 29, 1971, in Brookfield, the daughter of Walter and Shirley (nee Niemi) Kangas. She was raised and received her education in Greenwood, graduating from Greenwood High School in 1990. After high school, she attended UW-Stout, graduating in 1995 with a bachelor of arts degree in interior architecture design. She was employed as a professor at UW-Stevens Point, where she taught interior architecture. She was then a stay-at-home mother, raising her daughters, did freelance art work, and was a substitute teacher for the Pittville School District this fall. She also recently completed her masters of fine art in illustration from the Academy of Art University in San Francisco. She had many interests, but especially loved being with her family and friends, creative art, her BMW, and was very involved with the American Cancer Society and its Relay For Life. She was a member of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Plover.

 

She will be dearly missed by her husband, Paul Peterson, Vesper; her three daughters, Sarah, Erika and Anna Peterson, all at home; her parents, Walter and Shirley Kangas, Owen; one brother, Joel Kangas, Owen; two sisters, Laura Kangas, Marshfield, and Karen (Brian Preston) Preston-Kangas, East Lansing, Mich.; and nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.

 

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorials be given in Jane’s name for a memorial to be established at a later date.
