Hendricks, Anton "Tony"  (05 DEC 1915-26 OCT. 2010)

 

Anton F. "Tony" Hendricks, 94, Thorp, died on Tuesday, Oct. 26, 2010, at the Clark County Health Care Center, Owen. No services will be held. Interment of cremains will take place in Old St. Hedwig’s Catholic Cemetery, Thorp at a later date.

 

Anton Frank Hendricks was born on Dec. 5, 1915, in Minneapolis, Minn., the son of Frank and Edna (nee Scott) Hendricks. He was raised on the family farm in the town of Reseberg, rural Thorp, and received his education at Golf school. During the 1930’s, he worked in the Thorp area, logging, skidding and working in sawmills. He married Ann Abramczuk on June 17, 1939, in Iowa. He farmed the family farm and worked a few years for Plautz Brothers, Greenwood. N the early 1950s, he sold his cattle and quit farming, and then went to work for the Blue Moon Cheese Factory, Thorp, until retiring in 1974. He remained on the family farm until entering the Clark County Health Care Center in September 2010. He will be dearly missed by his family and all who knew him. He had many interests, but especially enjoyed gardening, reading, going out west to hunt deer, and traveling, including Alaska, Yellowstone, Pike’s Peak, Pennslvania, Washington D. C., and the Pacific Ocean.

 

Survivors include his wife, Ann, Owen; six children, Brian (Joan) Hendricks, Owen, Peggy (Ron) Benzschawel, West Dundee, Ill., Roger Hendricks, Greenwood, Sandra (Cliff) Schofield, Greenwood, Bonnie (Ray) Hollinger, York, Pa., and Mark Hendricks, Rockford, Ill.; eight grandchildren, Debra (Bruce Kirn) Schofield, Greenwood, Tammy (Mike) Mireles, Hainesville, Ill., Scott Schofield, Marengo, Ill., Kimberly (Pat) Easterday, La Grange Park, Ill., Kristine (David) Engel, Chicago, Steven Benzschawel, Aurora, Ill., Rebecca Hollinger, York, Pa., and Jason Hendricks, Steven Point; four great-grandchildren, Trista Sepp, Max Mireles, Ryan Easterday and Kaitlyn Easterday; one great-great-grandson, Kaden Lewis; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

 

Preceding him in death were his parents; one daughter, Karen Hendricks, three brothers, Alfred, Ross and William; and three sisters, Katie, Alta, and Mildred.
