Sommers, George (11 September 1902 - 19 April 1960)

 

George Sommers, 57, died in Loyal Tuesday forenoon, April 19.  He was born in the Town of Hull, Marathon County, on September 11, 1902.  He lived in the Town of Hull until shortly after his marriage, when he moved to Loyal and resided there until his death.

 

He was married to Ione Windsor at Colby, November 15, 1929.  She survives.  He is also survived by a stepson, Dale, and two brothers, Henry of Colby and Carl of Unity.

 

Funeral services were held from Trinity Lutheran Church, Loyal, at 2 p.m. Saturday.  Burial was made in the Loyal Cemetery.  The Rev. Virgil Ganz officiated.

 

Pallbearers were: Henry Rottjer, Barney Davel, Frank Elpert, Tony Schlagenhaft, Clayton Engelbretson, and Reuben Zimmerman.  Mrs. Romaine Rossow sang, "In The Garden" and "Rock Of Ages".  Miss Jean Noeldner was organist.

 

Those from out of town attending were: Dale Windsor, Denver, Colo.; Mrs. Margie Windsor and children, Milwaukee; Mr. and Mrs. Carl Sommers and son Marvin, Unity; Henry Sommers, Colby; Reinhold Schroeder and Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Schroeder, Spencer; Mr. and Mrs. Tom Reynolds, Dorchester; Miss Amanda Buchholt, Chicago; Mr. and Mrs. Richard Cox, Abbotsford; Mr. and Mrs. Joe Strangfeld, Neillsville and Lawrence Wink, Thorp.
