Jeanette Doris Humke was born on February 22, 1931, in Greenwood, WI, the daughter of George and Lelah (Sheets) Humke. She was raised on the family farm and received her education in the Greenwood area, graduating from Greenwood High School in 1950.  Jeanette then attended Eau Claire Teachers College for two years.  She taught in the Greenwood area at Rocky Run School and then later at Oakland School. They moved to Thorp and operated the motel until they sold it in 1983.  Jeanette and Glenn then purchased a farm in  the Town of Worden, south of Thorp, where they have lived until the present time.

She was a member of Immanuel United Church of Christ and its Ladies Aide, and a former leader of Braun 4-H.

Jeanette had many interests, but especially loved spending time with her family and friends, teaching her grandchildren to read, write, draw and play cards, gardening, flowers, recipes and cats.
