Darling, Blanche (3 August 1896 - 15 January 1960)

 

Funeral services were held Monday from the Georgas Funeral Home for Mrs. Asa (Blanche) Darling of Neillsville, who died here Friday.  Services were conducted by the Rev. Virgil Holmes, pastor of the Methodist Church, and burial was made in the Neillsville City Cemetery.

 

Mrs. Darling suffered a stroke eight years ago and had been a wheel chair patient for a number of years.  She suffered a second stroke two days prior to her death.

 

The former Blanche Schummel was born August 3, 1896, in Neillsville, and was the daughter of the late George and Emma (Darling) Schummel.  On June 25, 1913, she was married to Asa Darling in Neillsville.  They operated a creamery in the Sidney area, near Neillsville, before going in to the restaurant business here.  They also operated a creamery in Deerfield before moving to Milwaukee, where they resided for 41 years. They returned to Neillsville two years ago.

 

She is survived by her husband and two sisters; Mrs. Henry (Grace) Wittke and Mrs. Nellie Armitage, both of Neillsville.

 

Mrs. Darling was a member of the R. N. A. Golden Link Lodge, No. 78, of Neillsville.

 

Pallbearers were: Lisle Armitage, Duane Sternitzky, Daryl B. Wittke, Dale K. Armitage, Clarence Ratsch and Victor Schultz.

 

Two hymns, "Rock of Ages" and "Saved by Grace" were sung by Mrs. V. Holmes and Herbert C. Feig, Jr., accompanied by Mrs. T. N. Thompson.

 

People from away here for the services were: Mr. and Mrs. Gordon Lark, Milwaukee; Mr. and Mrs. Wallace Parsons, Bangor; Mr. and Mrs. Arthur (?) of Waukegan, Ill.; Mr. and Mrs. Daryl Wittke, Black River Falls; Mr. and Mrs. Victor Schultz and Gary, Eau Claire; Mrs. L. V. Mulder, Mr. and Mrs. Lyle Soltan, La Crosse.

 

Members of the Golden Link Lodge, No. 78, attended in a body.
