Spry, Beverly (Marriage - 27 December 1959)

The Evangelical and United Brethren Church in Chili was the scene Sunday of the wedding of Miss Beverly Spry, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Phelps Spry of Chili, and Walter Helm, son of Mr. and Mrs. Louis Helm of Granton.  The bride’s uncle, the Rev. George Gould of Gilmanton, performed the double ring ceremony before an altar banked with baskets of white ‘mums.

The bride, given in marriage by her father, was attired in a floor length delustered satin gown.  A panel of Venetian lace formed a panel down the length of the dress.  The fitted bodice was fashioned with long, tapering sleeves and a "V" neckline.  A fingertip veil of French illusion net cascaded from a crown headpiece of rhinestones and pearls.  She carried a cascade bouquet of white Fuji ‘mums and holly leaves.

Miss Janet Spry was maid-of-honor for her sister.  Miss Barbara Haslow, Chili, Gwen Urbanz of Willard and Edith Paach of Marshfield were bridesmaids.  They wore champagne colored brocaded dresses with topaz cummerbunds and matching accessories.  Bronze, yellow and white nosegays were their flowers.

Bestman was the groom’s brother, Norman Helm. Groomsmen were Eldon Helm, Roland Helm, and Donovan Spry.  Roger Spry and Roger Helm were the ushers.

A reception and wedding dinner for 350 guests was held in the church parlors.

On their return from a wedding trip to Minnesota, Mr. and Mrs. Helm will reside on the groom’s farm near Granton.

The bride is a graduate of Marshfield high School and Stout Institute, and is teaching this year in Abbotsford.  Mr. Helm was graduated from Granton High School and the farm short course at the University of Wisconsin.  He served overseas with the army in Austria.
