Haines, Robert Daniel (28 September 1886 - 26 December 1959)

 

Funeral services for Robert Haines, 73, of Neillsville, were held Tuesday from the Methodist Church. The Rev. Virgil Holmes officiated, and burial was made in the Neillsville City Cemetery.

 

Mr. Haines died Saturday following a stroke. He had been in ill health for a number of years.

 

Robert Daniel Haines, son of the late Daniel and Emelia (Blaine) Haines, was born September 28, 1886, at Montfort.  He received his education there and on September 8, 1909, was married at Castle Rock to the former Gena Helgeson, who survives.  They lived on a farm there until 1920, when they moved to Clark County, settling on a farm in the Town of Grant.  In 1953, they moved to Neillsville.

 

He was a member of the Methodist Church and for 12 years served on the board of the Wild Rose School.

 

He is survived by his wife and the following children: Francis, Neillsville; Mrs. Russell (Ella) Gardner, Granton; Mrs. Alex (Rebecca) Goeser, Stockbridge; Glenn, Neillsville; Mrs. Arvin (Anna) Liebzeit, Greenwood; and Eugene, Neillsville.  Nineteen grandchildren and a sister, Mrs. Oscar (Anna) Peterson, of St. Petersburg, Fla., also survive.

 

Funeral arrangements were made by the Bergemann Funeral Home.

 

Pallbearers were: Ben Dux, Robert Frantz, Richard Hagedorn, Herman Ratsch, Herman Scharf and Arthur Wegner.

 

Two hymns, "Near to the Heart of God" and "Face to Face," were sung by Mrs. Virgil Holmes and Herbert Feig, accompanied by Miss Carol Peterson.
