Mortimer, Sharon Rose (Marriage - 22 August 1959)

S. S. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Wisconsin Rapids was the scene August 22 of the wedding of Miss Sharon Rose Mortimer, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Carlton C. Mortimer of Wisconsin Rapids, and David Francis Becker, son of Mr. and Mrs. Henry J. Becker, Sr., of Neillsville.

The Rt. Rev. Msgr. C. W. Gille performed the double ring ceremony before an altar decorated with white and pink gladioli.  Organist was Miss Lana Boehm and soloist was Mrs. Nick Kundinger.

The bride, given in marriage by her father, wore a floor length gown of Chantilly lace, with tiers of ruffles cascading to a brush train. The scalloped jewel neckline was accented with iridescent sequins; and the back was fastened with a row of tiny satin buttons. The satin-banded bodice featured a satin bow and the long lace sleeves ended in a point at the wrists.  A Chantilly lace crown with seed pearls secured her elbow-length veil, and she carried a cascade bouquet of white feathered carnations and deep pink roses.

Mrs. Edward Kaja, Wisconsin Rapids, sister of the groom, was her matron-of-honor.  Bridesmaids were Miss Ruth Nason and Miss Karen Frost, both of St. Louis, Mo.  Miss Susan Mortimer was junior bridesmaid.

The matron-of-honor and the junior bridesmaid wore ballerina-length gowns of turquoise chiffon over taffeta, featuring harem hemlines; and the bridesmaids wore similar gowns in pink.  The shirred bodices, lace cummerbunds and back bows were the interesting details.  Picture hats and matching gauntlets completed their ensembles.  They carried colonial bouquets of white pompons and carnations in turquoise and pink in contrast to their gowns.

Miss Sandra Shirel of Stevens Point was the flower girl.  Rodney Kaja, nephew of the groom, carried the rings on a white satin pillow.  Pat Becker and Mark Nelson were servers for the Mass.

Richard Becker, Oshkosh, was bestman for his brother.  Carlton Mortimer, Jr., and Richard Skibba, both of Wisconsin Rapids were groomsmen; and Edward Kaja and Henry Becker, Jr., ushered.

Immediately following the ceremony a dinner was served for members of the immediate families at the American Legion Hall, where a reception for 225 guests followed.

Both Mr. and Mrs. Becker are graduates of Lincoln High School in Wisconsin Rapids, where Mrs. Becker is employed as a secretary.  Mr. Becker is attending Stevens Point State College.

For their wedding trip to Northern Wisconsin and Michigan, Mrs. Becker wore a two-piece brown dress with beige accessories.  On their return they will reside at 710 - 11th St. N. Wisconsin Rapids.
